Learn about my mom

Date of birth: July 21, 1958
First word: ?
First sentence: ?
Favorite color: Blue

My mom met my dad at The Boston Company. She was a vice president. She worked there almost ten years, but then retired when I came along. My mom really loves her family. I know that because she told me! I love her too! She's very nice, funny, caring, etc... of course. :)

My mom is part of a book group, which meets every month or so and picks a book to read. Then the next time they meet they talk about that book, then pick a new book. Sounds like fun to me! Only, I don't think I'd like their books very much.... Someday my mom would like to be a writer. Maybe then her book group can read her book! Ooh... exciting... maybe they'd get some sort of discount...

My mom loves working with kids at my school. Maybe she'll be a teacher someday too! (Maybe she'll teach writing! Ooh...) Currently, she's a trustee at Beaver Country Day School, the school my brother and I both go to.

My mom used to work at Transition House, a homeless shelter in Cambridge. She ran a playgroup for the kids. Now she works at a full-time day care center for homeless kids run by Horizons for Homeless Children. She helps take care of the 1-year-olds every Thursday. If you have any kid toys (or kids! ha! just kidding! okay, never mind, not funny...) that you're sick of, you can give them to her and she'll give them to Horizons.

(At left: a photo of my mom, eyes partly closed (or at least looking down), watching the Red Sox win the World Series!!!)
