Here is the place where you can download
programs I've created. They aren't too fancy or useful, but they're
something! (Well, frankly, they're in the 99th percentile of the least exciting
"something"s I've ever seen... but, well, it was fun making them.)
About the Creation
At Cybercamps 2002, I learned some basic C++ programming. Later, I began
programming in C#, which is a lot like C++ yet slightly newer. Here you can
download a couple of the programs I've created. Unfortunately, they only work on
Windows computers.
Please note that these aren't the "final" versions and may contain bugs.
Don't worry, though -- none of the bugs that I know of do any real harm! All you
have to do is close down the program and VOILA! -- problem's gone. However, it
may be nice to read my nifty little disclaimer. These programs may
also lack certain features that I still hope to include. If you have any feature
suggestions, feel free to let me know, and I'll try to incorporate them into
future versions. Speaking of versions, while I'll try to keep this page updated
with the newest version, I'm pretty likely to fall behind.
In addition to this, be sure to check out my Recommended
Downloads page for programs that are either required to view Tophtucker.com or
are simply good, fun, useful programs.
Instructions
These downloads are offered as ZIP files. (Basically, that means
that I've compressed the files for speedier downloading. However, because
they're compressed, there is a need to decompress them for use.)
After clicking "Download Now", a dialog box will pop up asking you whether to
open the file or save it to your hard drive. Click "Open."
In Windows XP:
Windows XP conveniently comes with a handy-dandy little tool for ZIP
decompression. After clicking Open, you'll see a folder with one file. That file
is the program. You can use the program straight from there, but if you
want to save it for later use you'll have to click "Extract all files" on the
left. After clicking through the simple guide to extraction (the "Extraction
Wizard"), you'll be asked to specify where to save the program. That is where
you'll have to go for future access.
In earlier versions of Windows:
Unfortunately, earlier versions of Windows don't feature the kind of
automatic extraction that XP has. (At least, I don't think they do; feel free to
prove me wrong!) However, you very well might still be able to extract "zipped"
files. After clicking Open, you'll find out! If something happy happens, you're
all set -- just follow the simple instructions on-screen. If something sad
happens (i.e., and error message), I recommend that you download
WinZip. You can download a
free 21-day trial at that site. After that, you'd have to pay $30 to keep on
using it -- but you won't be downloading these in 21 days, now will you? :-)
My Programs
-
My First Program C++, Cybercamps 2002. ~187KB
-
This is my first program. It has a kind of conversational style, and features...
(1) a calculator, (2) a tic-tac-toe game, (3) guess my number,
(4) mad libs, (5) a Star Wars quiz, and more! Note that this
program was never really completed, and thus, for example, might claim to have a
feature in the Help section that doesn't actually exist.
Download now.

-
Trip Calculator C#, 2003-2004. Version 1.0.1538.19635.
-
This little program calculates facts about a road trip like miles per gallon,
average price of gas, total trip distance and more. It's not very impressive,
but it's something. I've delayed the release of this to the public so that I can
add some more features and make it more functional. Coming soon!
-
TuckLyne ChatBot C#, 2003-2004. Version 1.0.1536.34099. ~29KB
-
This program is a lot like my first program. However, it's more oriented towards
educating the user about TuckLyne. Some of its current features include (1) a
(better) Star Wars quiz, (2) a searchable TuckLyne staff database,
and (3) information on the founding of TuckLyne. This one's really
a work in progress! Download now.

-
TuckLyne Photo Viewer C#, 2003-2004. Version 1.0.1536.32203.
-
This program is really, really simple! All it does is display four
different images. However, seeing as how it's my first real Windows application,
I still consider it a major accomplishment. I've delayed the release of this to
the public because of some complexities relating to photos and fonts, which
aren't an issue with my other programs. Coming soon!
